Enhance balance & Strength

Balance & strength can be enhanced through sensory, core strengthening, coordination, proprioceptive, and vestibular inputs.

Trunk Core Strength

The movement of the horse can help to engage the rider's core muscles, including the muscles of the abdomen, back, and pelvis. As a result, the rider can develop better core strength and stability, which can improve their overall balance and posture.

Increased Endurance

Hippotherapy can increase endurance through cardiovascular exercise, breathing control, mental endurance, and therapeutic exercises.

Improve Postural Symmetry

Core strengthening, balance training, stretching, coordination training, and therapeutic exercises all assist in improving postural symmetry.

Improved motor skills

Rein handling, grooming, tacking up, tying knots, stirrup control, and therapeutic exercises all work to improve fine motor skills.

Respiratory Control

Riding a horse requires the rider to coordinate their breathing with the movement of the horse. This can help the rider to develop better breathing control.

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy & Learning

Each session is about our client's story. The team holds space for the client to experience an equine-human bond and allow their own story to unfold. We are each client's facilitator, coach, and guide, working with equine partners to assist our clients.

Ground-Based

No horseback riding is involved. Clients work with horses in an environment that becomes metaphoric using ground-based experiences.

Solution Oriented

Clients discover the best solutions for themselves by exploring, problem-solving, and overcoming challenges using the human-equine bond.

Testimonials

"The confidence that each person displayed helped increase [client's] confidence and willingness to participate each week. I found this program to be incredibly successful.... The gains that [client] made since graduating from hippotherapy has by far gone beyond what I could have ever asked for."
